The History Center offers internships in many subject areas. Interns may earn college credit or intern for experience and new skills. The first step toward becoming an intern is to email your resume to Lesley Jones at lesley@negahc.org

Historic Photography Internship
Intern will photograph various locations of historic or cultural significance in the Northeast Georgia region to be archived at the History Center. The intern will be assigned locations and work independently to capture and edit photos.
Intern will conduct the necessary research to identify sites of historic/cultural significance in the Northeast Georgia region. They will curate a digital presentation of their work at the end of their internship to showcase during a special event at the History Center.
Please Note: This internships requires the ability to travel to various locations in Northeast Georgia. The History Center will provide gas mileage reimbursement.
Spanish Language Translation Internship
Intern will work with History Center staff as a Spanish translator for History Center print and digital materials including its website, social media, and visitor guides.
Intern will assist in oral translation and translating print/digital materials for the History Center’s reading program, Gainesville Reads. The intern will assist the Program Manager as a translator as needed.
Oral History Project Internship
Intern will work with History Center’s Director of Media & Communication to film/record oral history interviews to be archived for future research and appreciation. The intern will assist in the filming/recording of interviews, the editing process, and transcription of interviews.
Please Note: It is preferred that interns have some experience with video and/or audio production and editing in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe Audition.
Educational Programming Internship
Intern Duties: Intern will assist with all aspects of the Northeast Georgia History Centers Educational programming, including:
Learning Objectives: By working closely with the Director of Education, the intern will gain experience in all aspects of program and event production, including: budgeting, performance reporting, customer service, trouble-shooting/problem-solving, adapting to different situations, multi-tasking, creative thinking, historical interpretation, researching, coordination at events, creating and maintaining inventories, communication, organization and time management, and event management.
Educational Research Internship
Intern Duties: Intern will assist with all aspects of the Northeast Georgia History Centers Educational programming, including:

Public Relations Internship
Public Relations interns learn foundational skills to write press releases, research relevant social media trends, create and update email lists, and assist in implementing the History Center's marketing strategy. PR Interns are expected to have excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, a working knowledge of Google Sheets or Excel, an aptitude for public speaking, and a genuine interest in history education. PR Interns may work remotely with an agreed upon schedule with their supervisor, the Director of Media & Communications.
Exhibits Internship
With direction from staff, intern will serve as project coordinator for an exhibit at the History Center. This includes: initial research and outline, object selection, assistance with fundraising and marketing efforts, writing of interpretive text, preparation of gallery space, exhibit installation, and training of docents.
